Recipe import or sharing

Recipe import or sharing failed

Importing is not available on your account yet

Import from link and the browser extension are rolling out gradually, and the server decides who has them. The page says so: Importing recipes is not available on your account yet. It is rolling out gradually. There is nothing to change on your side; create the recipe by hand with Create in the meantime.

The draft has the wrong servings or nutrition

If the page did not state a yield, the draft assumes 4 servings. Set the real number before saving so the nutrition per serving is right. Ingredients the page wrote loosely may need a serving size chosen by hand.

Not yet yours to share

An imported recipe can be shared only once you have rewritten it. Share shows Not yet yours to share with the conditions still unmet:

  • the steps and headnote must be substantially rewritten (no more than about a third similar to the source);
  • the title may keep at most half of the original title’s words;
  • the photo must be your own upload.

Edit until each condition clears, then share. Recipes you wrote yourself have no such conditions.

The share link stopped working

A share link stops working for one of these reasons:

  • You selected Stop sharing. The link is dead for everyone. Share again for a new link.
  • An edit moved the recipe back toward its source. The recipe tells you: Sharing was turned off: after this edit the recipe reads too much like the page it came from. Make it your own again and share again.
  • You deleted the recipe. Deleting one of your recipes ends its share link with it.

Visitors to a dead link see This recipe is no longer shared. A visitor to a live link sees the recipe with Adapted from (site) where it was imported, no name or other detail about you, and an invitation to sign up; they cannot save or copy it from that page.

How importing and sharing work is in Import and share recipes. If none of this matches what you see, contact support with the recipe’s address and the message.
