Missed sessions

Let a missed session go

VegaLoop does not add a missed workout to another day, does not count the sessions you did not do, and does not ask you to confirm a miss. On Plus, it suggests one change when the session’s role in the program makes a change useful.

The rules

Only sessions missed in the last 7 days get a suggestion, and the suggestion depends on the session’s role in the program:

SessionWhat VegaLoop suggests
Easy, recovery, or test sessionNothing; the session is let go.
Quality session (intervals, tempo, a hard strength day)Move it up to 2 days forward, as long as two hard days do not end up back to back. Otherwise let it go.
Long sessionMove it to the nearest free day in the same week. If there is none, do about two thirds of it on the next free day within 3 days. Otherwise let it go.
RaceNever moved, eased, or dropped.

The suggestion arrives as a card on the dashboard, A session you can still fit in, with Accept and Leave it. Accepting moves the session (and shortens it where the rule says so); the card then reads You moved this session or You moved and shortened this session, with Undo. Leaving it drops the session and the card reads You let this session go. Either way the rest of the plan stands.

Why it works this way

  • Catching up puts two hard days back to back, which is what the rules above are written to avoid.
  • Easy sessions support the hard ones, so skipping one costs little and there is no reason to make it up.
  • A long session cut to two thirds keeps the week’s structure. Moving it to the day before a quality session does not, which is why the rule looks for a free day.

What you can do yourself

  • Move any session by dragging it, or by changing its date, on any plan.
  • Mark the sessions that matter as This is a race so nothing touches them.
  • If a whole week is gone, do not reschedule it. Pick up the program where the calendar is now; the week’s load label and the 7-day projection will tell you if the jump is too big.
